Medical Insurance Fraud- A Doctor’s Identity
Fraudsters are now stealing the identity of doctors to defraud millions from Medicare, Medicaid and other insurance carriers. The widespread use and distribution of physician identifier numbers makes it easy for thieves to steal the identity of doctors and bill insurers in the doctor’s name. There are two main approaches to using a doctor’s identity to commit fraud. In the first they make it appear that the doctor has referred patients for services such as lab analyses, diagnostic testing or prescribed durable medical equipment. In the other approach, the fraudster used the physician’s id to bill directly for services in the physician’s name, as if the services actually were rendered by that doctor.

IRS Says Thieves are Preying on Tax Returns
South Florida tax filers are lining up to report identity theft when filing tax returns. Internal Revenue offices around the state have long lines of individuals claiming they are victim to this tax fraud. Some Florida residents are counting on their tax returns to catch up on bills and when they go to file their tax return, they realize someone has already filled theirs. Stop PIP Fraud
Who would have thought that driving an auto mobile in Florida could spare so much danger? In 2010, a study conducted by Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, showing the statistics of traffic accidents across the state of Florida. Overall, the study showed that the average number of crashes that occurred per day was 645. As this problem continues it carries with it other unfortunate consequences. To help aid the injuries from crashes that occur, Florida has created personal injury protection (PIP) which is mandatory for all drivers across the state. This is an insurance policy that will pay up to $10,000 dollars in series of medical costs coming from auto accidents, despite who is at fault. As members of the community become more familiar with this course of action, criminals thrive off of planning these wrecks in order to get big payouts.
